A festive atmosphere filled the Camden Showground over the weekend as two popular events joined forces to attract shoppers, families and visitors from across the region.
On Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July, the Eat Shop Love Camden Country Markets – Christmas in July Edition and Gordon's So Much Stuff Christmas in July Car Park Sale combined to create one of Camden's busiest weekends of the winter season.
The special Christmas-themed markets offered everything from artisan products and gourmet treats to handcrafted gifts and homewares. Meanwhile, Gordon's So Much Stuff transformed the AH&I Hall into a bargain hunter's paradise with its Christmas in July warehouse sale.
The collaboration proved to be a winning formula, bringing visitors through the Camden Showground and encouraging many to spend time exploring Camden's cafés, restaurants, pubs, clubs and retail businesses.
Eat Shop Love Markets founder Deb Brown said the partnership exceeded expectations.
"Our weekend Christmas in July market was a massive success! Joining forces with the awesome Gordon's So Much Stuff team for their two-day sale was a perfect Christmas lovers' match."
Following the success of the weekend, Deb confirmed the partnership will continue later this year.
"The Camden Country Market operates on the second Sunday each month, but from October we will be running Saturday and Sunday to again join forces with Gordon's when their Christmas Cave opens. We can't wait!"
For Gordon's So Much Stuff, the weekend also marked an important milestone. After relocating the event to Camden, owner Gordon admitted he had been uncertain whether the community would embrace the new location.
"I was worried Camden may not be as popular as our old venue, but people came."
Reflecting on the weekend, Gordon credited the success to the people around him.
"Gordon's has always been a family business. It's 26 years old now, but what is family? It's a group of people who will do anything for you no matter what. They're not driven by money, a job, ego or what's in it for them. They genuinely care."
He also acknowledged the dedication of everyone who helped deliver the event.
"This weekend I had five of my children there, my beautiful partner, my friends, my work family, and my grandkids dropped in to say hello. I'm very lucky and humbled. The team was amazing. They pushed through fatigue and pain, we had a laugh, stayed sane, and pulled off the biggest sales we've ever had."
The response from shoppers has already led to exciting plans for the months ahead. Gordon's So Much Stuff has announced that the AH&I Hall will once again become home to its much-loved Christmas Cave from October through to December, providing another reason for visitors to make Camden part of their Christmas shopping tradition.
While the heavily discounted warehouse sale prices were exclusive to the Christmas in July event, Gordon said customers can still expect the competitive prices his business is known for throughout the Christmas Cave season.
The weekend demonstrated the power of collaboration, with two complementary events creating a destination experience that benefited stallholders, local businesses and the broader Camden economy. As visitors enjoyed the markets and searched for festive bargains, many also took the opportunity to dine, shop and explore everything Camden Village has to offer.
With the return of the Christmas Cave and expanded two-day Camden Country Markets from October, Christmas lovers already have plenty to look forward to in Camden later this year.
