Representatives from Camden Men’s Shed joined local businesses and community organisations at the Camden Village website launch in June 2026.
During the event, Camden Men’s Shed representative Stuart was interviewed by MC Glenn Millanta about the important role the organisation plays in supporting local men.
Camden Men’s Shed has operated in the area for approximately 10 to 12 years, originally based at the Camden Equestrian Park. For the past three years, the group has leased land from Carrington, where members have developed a purpose-built facility.
“It’s the best Men’s Shed in Australia, I reckon,” Stuart said, praising both the facilities and the people who have helped create them.
While the shed offers impressive woodworking and metalworking areas, vegetable gardens and plant propagation activities, Stuart explained that its most important role is providing a welcoming place for men to meet, talk and form friendships.
He shared the story of a member who joined after losing his wife to cancer and said attending the Men’s Shed had made an incredible difference to his life.
The group meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with members also gathering for breakfast at a local Camden café on Wednesday mornings.
Stuart also acknowledged the generosity of Camden businesses and community organisations that have donated equipment, services and financial support. Camden Rotary has sponsored members to undertake mental health first aid training, while the shed also supports initiatives such as R U OK?
“It’s just an open place where people can come,” Stuart said. “It’s great support for men.”
Camden Men’s Shed continues to demonstrate how friendship, practical activities and community connection can make a meaningful difference in the lives of local men.
