Camden came alive on Sunday, 19 July 2026, as more than 2,000 runners, joggers and walkers took part in the first-ever Run Camden.
Presented by Elite Energy Events, the inaugural event exceeded all expectations and brought participants from across the region together for a memorable morning of fitness, community spirit and celebration.
Organisers had originally anticipated approximately 800 participants. Instead, more than 2,000 people registered across the event’s four distances, supported by an estimated 1,500 spectators lining the course and gathering around the event precinct.
Participants could choose from the challenging 21.1-kilometre half marathon, a 10-kilometre run, a five-kilometre course or a family-friendly fun run.
With clear skies and ideal running conditions, Camden provided a picturesque backdrop as competitors made their way through the local area. From experienced endurance athletes chasing personal-best times to families, walkers and first-time runners, the event offered something for every level of fitness.
Local running groups were also well represented, with clubs and social runners sharing their results, photographs and achievements across social media throughout the day.
Volunteers Power the Event
More than 100 volunteers worked behind the scenes and along the course to help deliver the event safely and successfully.
Elite Energy Events CEO Mark Emmerton praised the volunteers and Camden Council for helping transform the Run Camden concept into reality.
“None of it would have been possible without the extraordinary generosity of over 100 volunteers, whose tireless work behind the scenes kept everything running smoothly, and the invaluable support of Camden Council, whose backing helped turn a vision into reality,” Mr Emerton said.
The event was supported by Camden Council and local councillors who helped provide funding to bring the major community running event to the Camden area.
A New Camden Tradition
Plans are already underway for Run Camden to return in 2027, with organisers confident it has the potential to become one of New South Wales’ premier community running fixtures.
The event also provided a valuable opportunity for participants and spectators to experience Camden beyond the finish line, exploring the village’s cafés, restaurants, shops, historic streets and welcoming local atmosphere.
Congratulations to every runner, walker, volunteer, organiser and supporter who helped make the inaugural Run Camden an outstanding success.
