Love Camden? There’s a place for you at Spirit of Camden.

Behind the events, stories, music, heritage and activities bringing new energy to Camden Village is a group of local people who share one thing in common — a desire to see Camden continue to thrive.

Spirit of Camden is inviting more people to become part of that story, whether you have a particular skill to share, an idea you would love to bring to life, some time to volunteer, or simply want to support an organisation working to promote our town.

This Saturday, 26 September, Spirit of Camden will be at the Camden Volunteer Expo at Camden Civic Centre, giving locals the chance to find out more about the organisation and the many different ways they can become involved.

Local People Making Things Happen

Spirit of Camden is a not-for-profit organisation established in September 2024 with a focus on promoting and celebrating the Camden Central District — better known through its destination identity as Camden Village.

In just two years, the organisation has been involved in initiatives spanning events, entertainment, heritage, tourism, local business promotion, community activities and storytelling.

Spirit of Camden has also participated in the NSW Government's Uptown program and has secured a second year of Uptown grant funding to continue building activity and opportunities within Camden Village.

But at the heart of the organisation is something much simpler: local people working together for their town.

Volunteers and members can help create events, share their skills, meet new people, tell local stories, support businesses and organisations, and help turn new ideas into reality.

Creating a Vibrant Camden Village

Spirit of Camden's objectives are centred around promoting, nurturing and celebrating Camden and supporting its business, cultural and community sectors.

The organisation aims to help establish Camden Village as a destination of choice for shopping, dining, entertainment, events, experiences and tourism, while encouraging greater activity throughout both the day and evening.

It also provides a voice for local businesses, entrepreneurs, community members and cultural organisations and creates opportunities for them to participate in the continued development of the town.

That can mean developing new events and promotions, supporting existing activities, creating opportunities for local businesses and organisations, or encouraging more visitors to discover what Camden has to offer.

Share Your Skills — Whatever They May Be

Being involved doesn't mean committing every spare hour you have.

People can participate as much or as little as suits them.

You might love events. You might be creative. You could have experience in marketing, photography, administration, heritage, music, tourism, community work or business.

Or you may simply be someone who loves Camden and would like to meet people and lend a hand.

There are opportunities to share your skills, create events, tell stories, support local initiatives and help bring ideas to life.

Because building a vibrant town isn't just about major projects — it's about people contributing what they can.

More Than a Membership

Spirit of Camden membership is $30 annually and is designed to be affordable and accessible to businesses, organisations and community members.

Membership provides opportunities to participate in planning, events and activations while connecting members with a growing network of people working to promote Camden.

Businesses and organisations can also benefit from the Camden Village website at camdenvillage.com.au, including a directory listing and the ability to promote local events.

The website has been developed as a central destination for discovering what's happening around Camden Village — from events and activities to local businesses and stories about the people and places that make Camden unique.

Perhaps the most important part of becoming involved is having the opportunity to contribute to what happens next.

Spirit of Camden is a community-led organisation, and its future activities will continue to be shaped by the people who participate.
